‘Take Two’

I go back to school soon. In 13 hours to be precise. It’s rather depressing to think like that. In hours, I’ll be back within the maroon walls of school sitting on a brown chair … learning. I don’t like school. I find it dull, and unappealing, The lessons are long and seem so repetitive. I get bored and my grades seem to reflect my disinterest.

I’m in year 11 now so, it feels like this matter… it matters that I don’t listen, don’t enjoy and don’t care. The way our school system works is that the year is split in 2, 2 units: A and B. This semester marks the start of a new semester the unit B semester. I am turning over a new leaf for it. I’m studying. I’m keeping my room clean. I’m doing my homework. I’m getting of f facebook. I’m eating healthier. I’m exercising more. I’m doing what I should of done 6 months ago.

It feels good to make plans. To have something that I want to inspire to, to have a goal. This blog is short but, I guess that’s symbolic really: less time on things like this and more time on important things, like school.

Tabloids, blog sites, websites, gossip sites, TV shows, news bulletins gossip magazines, newspaper articles. CELEBRITIES: we can all name at least one. Their names are perhaps the most well known names the world over. What is it though that makes us so intrigued by these people? I get it I suppose, that they have incredible talent and are flawless and lets face it, that’s how they are marketed but, why do we obsess with the ones who get drunk on the weekends, beat up their wives, do drugs, get divorced and remarried, commit adultery and get arrested? I’m not naïve, they are just people and these are issues that normal people face everyday. That person who you sat next to on the train, the one who was behind you in the line at the supermarket, the person who your friend was talking about they do it too. We don’t however see those stories from the people who don’t inspire us. I’m like the next person too, there are celebrities I love. But, the ones I love, the average person wouldn’t know their name or even what they are famous for. Let me introduce you to the celebrities I love.

If you know me at all you will now I adore KATE WALSH. Addison Forbes Montgomery: The fiery red head from Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Yes, I love her. She’s not very well known because her career is mostly on the small screen in the two medical shows and in Drew Carey’s show. You probably don’t know her because really, her biggest controversy was getting divorced and, that really wasn’t that exciting for the tabloids. Did you know she’s an activist for Oceana and for animal rights? I doubted it, it’s this sort of thing that is ignored by the media spotlight and really, it shouldn’t be. It matters, its what the children should be doing.

IDINA MENZEL: There is a chance you know her now, for her role as ‘SHELBY’ on the incredibly popular GLEE. But, did you know that before that she was a broadway legend (she still is) staring in Rent, Wicked, Aida and heaps more not to mention that she is signed with Warner Brother Records, who have also signed Lily Allen, Ellen DeGeneres and Alice Cooper, to mention a few. No, because she is over looked. It’s my point, that we are only interested in the people who throw controversy our way.

There’s also KRISTIN CHENOWETH: The 4’11” singer and actress who has won an Emmy and a Tony, stared in heaps of musicals, wrote a book and is super super funny. She is ‘APRIL’ on GLEE. The point is, with hardly any controversy, nobody really knows who she is.

I also love OPRAH: . If you don’t know who she is, you’ve been living under a rock. She has had her fair share of controversy and perhaps, that’s plays a role in why everyone knows her name. There is ELLEN DEGENERES who we all know I ADORE like pretend to be sick to watch her show adore and have for like ever but really, the same thing goes for her as it does for Oprah, there is controversy, and due to that there is fame. With both of these influential celebrities though, there is so much good work which is why I love them.

My point is, the average person can name a celebrity but, who will they name? Chances are it will be Lindsay Lohan, Elvis, Tiger Woods, Brittany Spears, Madonna, Lady Gaga. Its controversy that our obsession with celebrities is centred around. We literally encourage them to make bad choices so that we can remember who we are and then we ask why they aren’t doing something more constructive with their influence.I really don’t understand, why on earth is it that we value this and condone this sort of behaviour. I had a point… somewhere… the celebrities we revere are not people we should aspire to be. So stop reading about it, stop talking about the. Ttop it. And revere someone who uses their influence and their gift for something other than fame and fortune.

God Dammit!

It takes alot to get me angry like, amazingly abusive going to blog about it angry but, today I got angry. 4 groups came and knocked on my door throughout the day trying to make me become a Jehovah’s Witness. Okay, I accept that they have different views and are into spreading the good news but really, it doesn’t matter how many of them harass me if I said no the first time I’m going to every other time and, I’m not going to be as polite to the fourth interruption. I believe in freedom of religion but, I also believe that trying to FORCE your religion on another person is disrespectful and unfair.

I noticed that, not only do they come regularly, they came in packs. The first time 2 gentlemen knocked on the door. The 2nd there was a grandmother and a girl who I assumed was her grand-daughter. The 3rd time there were 4 the last time there were again 4 of them. What, did they think they could bully me into it?

I got 3 “Purpose of Life” Brouchers and had an interesting conversation with one of the men in the 4th group as he tried to give me my fourth for the day. Please note, it is a little rude but I had already been pestered that day and to the other groups I was much more polite.
Man: Have you ever wondered what the purpose of life is?
Leishae: No, not really. I believe you make your own choices and, the purpose of your life is determined by those choices.
Man: That’s odd, you really should have
Leishae: Um, I beg your pardon?
Man: Most people of sane mind question the purpose of life
Leishae (now annoyed): And yet I haven’t
Mad: God would be disappointed that you have not asked why he put you here
Leishae: That’s if God is real
Man: You’re not a believer?
Leishae: No
Man: Why not? Don’t you believe that the stories came from somewhere?
Leishae: Do you believe in Santa?
Man: No, but I really don’t see how that is relevant.
Leishae: That’s based on stories that originated from somewhere.
Man: That’s different.
Leishae: You just showed that the basis of your religion is not strict enough in other circumstances which just took all rational and in theory credibility from your faith by your own words.
Man: It’s not about knowing.
Leishae: You said your self that you don’t believe in Santa.
Man: This isn’t about Santa
Leishae: I know, it’s about your faith having no basis.
Man: I’m going to leave you with a broucher
Leishae: Oh, its okay.
Man: No here take it.
Leishae: God wouldn’t want you to waste the trees.
Man: *leaves*
Leishae(louder than I intended): Far out they are like a plague of rats
Man(turns around)
Leishae: Ooops.

So, I had a point: it is the most annoying and rude thing ever to come and knock on someone’s door and try to tell them that what they believe is not the most ideal thing and, to harrass the SAME person on this matter more than once. GOSH!

I know that this might seem trivial but… i think you understand…

Summer Vacation: We don’t call it that here in Australia, the Summer Holidays, thats what we say but, I really have to say the term vacation suits so much better at least, it has suited my break better.

Thats the holidays for me thus far.

Scarborough Beach is the sterotypical Australian Beach. Blue waters like glass, and gorgeous white sand and , it stretches as far as the eye can see.
I think that its the best beach, whats not to love?

I guess the sun burn and wind burn one might gain kinda sucks and the whole hair goes revolting thing… that too but, isn’t that part of the beach?

I’ve gone most days this break and have acquired a thong (flip flop) tan which I have to say is amazingly attractive. NAWT!

Since going to the beach, I’ve also learnt all the streets down Scarborough Beach and Brighton Rd due to many walks up and down those steets which is amazing for me beause navigating is not a strength of mine by any means (I did after all fail Camping).

I’m not one to usually go to the beach, I used to hate it because I was too young to wander off and too few of my friends enjoyed it but, now I have found a delightful bunch who love it and I’m old enough to wander and really enjoy it.

Then there has been shopping I didn’t buy much, I’m saving my money (or so I say). Just a skirt and some other little things. The skirt was on sale- got to love the 50% off new year sales which is really why I bought it- it was cheap.

Then there are the movies, I saw AVATAR I’m really not a Sci-Fi person but my goodness, it was brilliant. The graphics are outstanding and the story is really rather engaging. So, if you haven’t seen it, you really must.

Also, these holidays have allowed for some quality TV catch up etc. I’ve been watching heaps of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, NCIS and Bones but, I’ve also changed from really liking to being totally addicted to The Force: Behind the Line. It started airing again and, with no homework to stop me from watching it, I found myself addicted. (Just what i need another TV addiction).

These holidays I am also going to try and cross off things on my list. Its a list of things I’d like to achieve before I turn 18. Sure, some of the things are really cliche and others are frightening (skydive) while others I think are actually really nice (give half of a paycheck to Charity). My friend and I came up with it and have been crossing things off for about a year now. I’m going to set one day aside to cross off as much as I can and, I’ll blog about that.

So, I think that thats the 6 weeks of my holidays so far.

Of course I left out Christmas and New Year but, you’ve all enjoyed your own celebrations for those events so, I won’t bore you with details of my own but, I will say that I hope you had a great Christmas and, that the new year brings you great happiness.

There are unwritten rules about school life which dictate who you can and can’t talk to and who is top dog and these change from school to school but, then there are those rules that are so set in stone that each school preaches the same policy. These are 3 of the big ones:
~ Year 12s rule: They always get the back of the bus, they get to cut lines and you don’t get to say anything about it.
~ Everybody hates year 8s.
~ You have the right to hate everyone younger than you.

And, it works because at some point you will be the one group of people who benefit utterly.

But, I have to say… I’m not totally sticking to the rules, I don’t hate everyone younger than me, there are a few year 9s who are pretty awesome. Jordon is one of them. He is pretty awesome and, he asked me to write a blog about him. No, he actually did ask me…

Jordon went to the same Primary School as me and, I don’t think we really actually spoke while we were both there but, his parents and my parents are friends with the same person and so, one night we both found ourselves at the same person’s house. We got talking about the internet which then drifted into a conversation about Twitter and how awesome it is and then into Facebook and possibly even the world of YouTube and MySpace and I told Jordon to follow me and, he actually did. So, we became cyber friends. WOO. Gotta love how the internet can do that.

So, I tweeted about my blog and, as you can see from the inset image… he asked me to write a blog about him. This is a little bit stingy because it’s not actually about him but, you get the idea. So Jordon, here is the blog i wrote about you.

Mistakes…. We all make them and they always suck.
They almost always hurt someone close to us and that perhaps, is what makes them suck the most.
You know, how if you chose the wrong thing to have for dinner or you match the wrong shirt and skirt it only stuffs you up but, if you decide to go to one persons party it hurts another?
Thats the worst part, knowing that you stuffing up has hurt someone else because usually, its someone who means the most to you.

The problem with mistakes is how astornomical the consequences are, one bad decision and you could become the most hated perosn or, you could be in majopr trouble.
The movie Mean Girls, an example of this Cady writes that her teacher Ms Norberry is a drug pusher and, what results? Her having to confess in front of her “12th Grade Calculus” class that she “wrote it” levaing her open to pain and suffering for what seemed like an eternity.
Even though the movie ended happily, the true stories don’t. Thats why mistakes suck.

It drives me mad how people say “I made a mistake” like it makes it all okay. I wish it did, it’d be so much better if it did but, it doesn’t.
Apologies- you can mean it, you can accept it you can forgive but, no matter how much you try, you can’t forget about how they hurt you or how you hurt them or, how you completely screwed up.

Its an age old occurance, one of the things that evolution can’t erase and thats how humans are constantly making mistakes, making bad calls, doing the wrong thing.
We could list thousands of mistakes from the trivial ones like spelling a word wrong, a blooper in a movie or, the huge ones like betraying a friend or fighting wars just for the heck of it.
There is a quote, you know, it says “Making mistakes simply means you are learning faster” I think this is true but, what about those people who never seem to learn? Those people who just keeping screwing up.
What about them?

I think you all of you an relate to something I’ve said, I think some of you agree with me on at least one thing or, you understand it.

With that, I’d like to close with the wise words of Lenny from the Simpsons he said, “everyone makes mistakes thats why they out erasers on pencils” and its true so,
Before you judge somone on what they did or didn’t do what they should or shouldn’t have done, remember that nobody is perfect and that nobody gets it right every time.
All we can do, is hope that when we get it wrong and believe me, we wil get it wrong, all we can hope is that when we do, the people who we care for the most can erase it from their minds and forgive us just once more.

Chain Reaction

Have you ever sent a chain letter? I’m sorry to say I have sent a fair few but, that was when I was like 13 and didn’t know better… when annoying the hell out of people with stories of fake dead girls and boys who will come after them. I know you all know what I’m talking about, don’t pretend you don’t.I don’t mind the occasional chain letter if it’s accompanied by something cute, you know like a nice poem and then it says “send this to all your friends” that I can handle because I don’t feel like I have wasted the last 5 minutes of my life reading about wishes and poems about rape and drugs. I can even handle the occasional one about how your crush will fall for you or whatever but, I could honestly scream when some people forward the same chain letter to you 4 times (you know who you are) they are the same people who send on EVERY chain letter known to man. I know the possessed clown story is confronting but, let me tell you something, he isn’t real and won’t come get you… Ghost Whisperer is just a TV show. Trust me, I’m still alive and I hardly ever send on the “YOU WILL DIE” chain letters.

So, pretty much.. this blog, its urging you to stop sending on those annoying Chain Letters. Send on the ones that make you laugh or smile not the stupid ones. I’m fairly sure I’m not the only person in the world who hates them.

She’ll be right Mate??

So, I’m pretty sure the world hates me. Not the entire world just the electronic world actually, more specifically the internet and TV programme world.
So, due to living in AUSTRALIA TV is terrible. Okay, we have great weather beautiful beaches and unpolluted air but honestly, one can only enjoy that happy marketable lifestyle for so long without craving some trashy TV and a good Twitter update.
Due to Grey’s Anatomy being one of the greatest shows of ALL TIME (Yes, Kayne I stole it sorry.) and Private Practice, Bones, NCIS and Castle being so incredibly addictive I have managed to use up all of our internet usage in approximately 2 weeks. Needless to say, mum is a little bit annoyed. In my defence though, she downloads stuff too and, she won’t let me move to America where we can get pollution and great TV.

Australia actually hates its TV fans, Grey’s Anatomy isn’t scheduled to air until next year and same with Private Practice. I’m not even sure if they are planning on airing Castle. Bones and NCIS though, they are good with that, we are only about 4 weeks behind with Bones and only a week behind for NCIS so, I guess I will survive.

Not having internet is a pain, it takes so long for the pages to load and, I wont be able to get updated on my TV shows until after November 9! At least if Australia is behind, I am getting to watch the awesome Shows when people in America aren’t. (They are however most likely watching TV shows that Australia won’t see for 10 years).

It’s really not that bad though in all seriousness to live in Australia. It’s like living in a country town thats totally unlike any other. I mean come on… worlds biggest Island =). And, there is so much to love, the beaches, the sun, the cool breeze, the happy people, Vegemite (yes really) and Kangaroos of course. I would however like to say something to the TV bosses of Australia should they ever read this…
GIVE ME GREY’S ANATOMY!! (please)

Opened up the WordPress Door once more…

Hey there,

Well, I actually forgot I had a WordPress blog, It isn’t really something I really wanted when I got it so, I never locked it into my memory but, I’m going to try and start coming on and writing.

So, I’m back at school now and, the year is actually almost over. I’ve actually got my end of year exams in 4 weeks so, I’m going to start studying soon.

I’ve actually developed a new obsession over the year… Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice… I used to like them but now… Oh My Goodness, I’m actually hopelessly addicted to it. Shonda Rhimes is a total genius!

Kate Walsh also makes it awesome, I love her.. she is so incredibly entertaining. =)

I’ve also gotten Twitter. I love it I’m on it constantly updating it and reading about famous people. I had over 140 followers at one point which, was fairly exciting, I went on camp though and it dropped to 8- but, its back at 130 now.

Oh, I have this list thing now too, a list of things to do before I turn 18. Its got things like um… make a baby laugh, hold a spider, go sky diving. Things like that. Its really crazy though because you don’t realise how hard it is to do osme of those things. Sometimes its hard or its just the wrong season or too expensive… heaps of things. I’ve got 3 years though so, hopefully in the course of three years the seaosns are right and the funds are avialable.

The weather is so gorgeous in Australia at the moment. It was 33C the other day which, I think is about 90F… But, Don’t quote me on that.

Anyway, I think that is it in terms of exciting things that have happened to me this year.

Glasses

Today I went to the optometrist and had my eyes tested. In my left eye I am very short sighted while my right eye has excellent vision.
I am getting glasses, either a red pair or a purple pair.
If i wear them too much or, constantly, I will be getting contacts.

I hope that they help and that I will have better vision and better grades but, I will see.
